Rainbow 2024 SV Picnic Comments and Photos
Posted by: Bob-S - 08-09-2024, 12:30 PM - Forum: Sky Valley News and Up-Coming Events - Replies (2)

The picnic was again a big success with about 170 attendees. Thanks to everyone who came despite the rainy day. The pig and beef were roasted this year offsite and they did a great job – they was very tasty
So we will consider using them again next year. Thanks to Nancy Lloyd for chairing the event this year and all the folks that helped out. Joey the fiddle player added music to dinner and was very entertaining again. The rain was not a problem and at least stopped during dinner.

Next year there will be no rain on the first Saturday in August – guaranteed!

  By-Laws after vote info
Posted by: Bob-S - 06-17-2024, 10:00 AM - Forum: Sky Valley News and Up-Coming Events - No Replies

In an effort to increase communication and transparency, the Board wants to provide an update on the vote on the revised bylaws at the Spring Membership Meeting. The bylaws passed with a vote of 143 for and 20 against.

We know many of you had concerns regarding the By-Laws.  The Board wants to assure you that your concerns have been heard and will be addressed. As noted at the Membership Meeting, the Board has established a Documentation Committee that will be reviewing all comments and concerns received regarding the bylaws (sanitized to remove names and personal info) and will be providing a recommendation to the Board on how to address each comment. The committee will also review and revise, as necessary, the rules and regulations. To that end, the Board is seeking two volunteers to participate on that committee. If you are interested in volunteering, please send an email to Directors@SkyValleyDCL.com <mailtoBig Grinirectors@SkyValleyDCL.com>.

Information Revised Sky Valley Bylaws Information
Posted by: Bob-S - 05-28-2024, 08:06 AM - Forum: Sky Valley News and Up-Coming Events - No Replies

On May 25,2024 at the Spring Members Meeting the revised By Laws were voted on and approved by the membership. They are now posted on the Website and go into effect immediately. During the period after they were first sent out, the Board has received numerous suggestions for modifications to this document. The Board will now form a committee comprised of several BOD members and non Board members to go thru the correspondence and decide what revisions should be considered. The goal will be to come up with a revision to be voted on at the Fall members meeting. By passing the current Bylaw document, we can now do the vote electronically if you have submitted a consent form that was included in the original package you received.
If you have not submitted the consent form you received or need another form, contact the office. You cannot vote electronically unless we have the form filed!

Rules Information:
Rules that were in the old Bylaws have been removed from the new document and have been added to the “Rules” and will be posted on this website. There are no changes to the rules and they remain in effect. The next task the BOD will undertake will be to re-write the rules document to clarify some of the wording and reorganize it for better understanding. Also due to state law, the “fines” section needs a re-write to be in compliance. The revised Rule Document will be sent to the membership for comments before the Board will vote on it.

Thanks,

Bob Sutton
Pres. BOD

Thumbs Up Ethanol Free Gasoline at the Swanton MD Store 21561
Posted by: Gary-R - 05-26-2024, 02:38 PM - Forum: Members Questions, Comments & Discussion - No Replies

Ethanol Free Gasoline is now available at the Swanton Store

Non-ethanol gas or clear gas is a fuel type without any ethanol content, made only from petroleum, and free from renewable fuel additives. Due to the absence of ethanol in this fuel type, it offers a couple of advantages, including; improved gas mileage, reduced engine damage risk, and a shelf life of up to 6 months.

Why use Ethanol Free Gasoline

1. Fuel Efficiency and Performance
One of the primary benefits of clear gas or non-ethanol gasoline is its impact on fuel efficiency and engine performance. Ethanol can have a lower energy content compared to gasoline, which means that vehicles running on pure gasoline tend to achieve better mileage and enhanced engine performance. This attribute is particularly appealing to those who prioritize efficiency in their vehicles.

2. Protection for Small Engines
Many people who depend on small engines, such as lawnmowers, chainsaws, and boats, often consider ethanol-free fuel as essential. The presence of ethanol in gasoline can pose harm to these engines, resulting in problems like carburetor blockages, fuel line deterioration, and a shortened overall lifespan. Opting for non-ethanol gasoline presents a cleaner and more safeguarding fuel alternative for these types of equipment.

3. Preservation of Classic Cars
Classic car enthusiasts in North Carolina and around the country often prefer unleaded gasoline without ethanol to protect their cherished vintage vehicles. Ethanol can be corrosive to older fuel systems and components, potentially causing damage. Clear gas helps preserve these automotive treasures, ensuring they remain in top-notch condition.

4. Reduced Environmental Impact
While ethanol-blended gasoline is touted as a renewable and eco-friendly option, it’s worth noting that producing ethanol can be energy-intensive and may involve carbon emissions. Non-ethanol gas, with its cleaner combustion properties, can result in lower emissions and a reduced environmental impact, aligning with the eco-conscious values of many concerned citizens.

5. Less Fuel System Maintenance
Using non-ethanol gasoline or pure gas can lead to reduced maintenance costs for vehicles and equipment. The absence of ethanol means fewer issues related to fuel system components, such as filters, pumps, and injectors, resulting in longer lasting and more trouble-free operation.

6. Improved Winter Performance
In North Carolina’s colder months, ethanol-free fuel shines. It has better cold-weather performance compared to ethanol-blended fuels, as it doesn’t absorb moisture as readily. This can be particularly advantageous for vehicles and equipment that experience winter storage.

7. Compatibility with Older Vehicles
Owners of older vehicles may find that Unleaded gasoline without ethanol is a more compatible fuel option. Some older engines and fuel systems were not designed to handle ethanol-blended fuels, making non-ethanol gasoline a safer and more reliable choice.
