Exclamation Summary of Bylaw Changes and Comparison Document
Posted by: Bob-S - 03-20-2024, 11:29 AM - Forum: Sky Valley News and Up-Coming Events - No Replies

Summary of Bylaw Changes and Comparison Document (See attached Files)

Please note these documents that denote the changes made to the original Bylaws in order to create the “Revised” Bylaws that the Board is proposing to be approved by the membership. The changes are largely clarification, better wording, complying with MD regulation, and removal of certain “rules” that don’t belong in Bylaws. These will be added to a rules document revision. There is no change to the authority or make up of the Board of Directors for governance of Sky Valley Association. As stated in the letter to members, the final document was prepared with the help of a member who is a retired attorney then reviewed by an independent local attorney for correctness.

Bob Sutton

PS; Joanna Thompson spent a lot of time to do this comparison to clear up some miss understanding.

Question DCL Lake Grass Control
Posted by: Bob-S - 02-15-2024, 10:37 AM - Forum: Sky Valley News and Up-Coming Events - No Replies

Sky Valley Members

Efforts to try and control near shore grass growth have come down to legislation written by  State Senator Mike McKay( SB837) and our Delegate Jim Hinebaugh (HB910).
These bills will have hearings in Annapolis on Feb 20 and 23rd respectively. They will require Brookfield Power to lower the lake for at least 30 days during the winter each year. This historically has prevented growth by killing of the grass by exposing it to the cold temperatures. Brookfield refuses to do this so legislation was drafted by the County and other stakeholders with the support of Mike and Jim.
Following are the email addresses for both committee chairmen that will hold these hearings. Please write them and express your support for both Bills.

HB910 – Mark.Korman@house.state.md.us  (Environment & Transportation
SB837 – Brian.Feldman@senate.state.md.us (Education & Environment)

Thanks,

Bob Sutton
Pres. SV Board of Directors

Posted by: Gary-R - 01-13-2024, 05:07 PM - Forum: Sky Valley News and Up-Coming Events - No Replies

Our crew has done a great job with the roads.  However drive slow going down hill.  Unplowed driveways are not useable.

High winds and snow today.

There are more people in Sky Valley taking advantage of the Ski conditions at the Wisp.

No problems with power outages so far.
